a weekend of remeniscing

Ive had so much fun this weekend, my friends Sarah and Kylie have both recently moved back nearby and miff, our friend that moved away around 9 years ago came to visit.

it was so great to get together, all three of these girls are like sisters to me. we had lots of giggly conversations of all the fun and funny times we have had over the years back when our home was a second home to them all.

reminiscing of mud sliding at a bike track down the road from mum and dads, movies that we used to watch together over and over, miffs various injuries, sneaky things that we thought our parents never knew about. we had a sleep over at mum and dads like old times and mum made everyones favourite spaghetti.
it was so much fun looking back on all the fun of our childhoods, reminding each other of little things that some of us had forgotten. we were so so sad that anneke (aka all of our big sister!!) couldn't make it but hope to do it again soon when she can!

we went for a walk around pt. Wakefield to show miff around

Kylie and Sarah relaxing on my couch

the wonderful miff, my walking to school buddy, eating way-too-much milo after school buddy.

i just remember school being all about 'fitting in' and being 'cool' but wed get together and do our own thing. none of that pretending to be a grown up junk, just getting outdoors, going on day long bike ride adventures to the beach, building cubby houses, climbing trees. I'm so glad that together we grew up slowly, made the most of everything, joked around plenty.

she always made me feel good about being myself, shes such a genuine honest person. we were both nervous to catch up after so many years (we've only recently started chatting on face book) but honestly, as soon as she got here we just all reconnected as though she had never left, she is still part of the family like back in the day.

we are now planing to organise a gathering of Joneses, miff, lindsay, kaia, callum (we met Lindsay years ago through miff) and i am ecstatic and hope it happens relay soon, these people lift me so high of the ground, all so soulful and real

Kylie laughing at Sarah.

ah my Kylie, we met in year 9 and had lots of school classes together. and we sure did make those classes fun. the classes we didn't have together were all about writing notes to swap and i always drew and painted her pictures. she was a big appreciator of my artwork (i loved art and was quite good at it) and I'm proud to say that even now, years after she moved out of her parents house my pictures are still proudly displayed all over her wardrobe.

most weekends we spent having sleepovers, getting together with friends, conning unsuspecting boys into letting us give them makeovers (which I'm pretty sure they secretly loved) and getting chips n gravy and orange and mango juice to share

we regularly snuck me onto her school bus (she lived the next town over) and hung out listening to music, bein silly, making goo messes.

bub/bubbles (sarah), mine and annekes little sister who's actually older than me but a little shorty (her and anneke look so alike that i think often people thought they were sisters)

id completely forgotten about the times when her mum would go away for the week and she would be adopted as one of us, it was so fun getting ready and going to school together, shed always get me to braid her hair.

we'd drag a mattress outside and do home work together (ok so gossip, giggle, make up code words to talk about our crushes so no one would know what we were on about, draw pretty pictures in each others page margins ((yes the teachers loved that)) and then wed fall asleep under the stars

adventuring

brekkie this morning, pancakes with berry apple and syrup.
oh and i brought home more apples. because theres nothing like apple crumble to end the great weekend well

finally another post

as requested by aj. gosh i dont know where ive been or what ive been doing lately, all i know is i havent been taking pictures!! (well not enough anyway)

bennys sisters wedding was last weekend and it was realy nice. it was at a beautiful garden in gawler.

this week theyve been on their honey moon in queensland and bens mum had their daughter but had to work so ive been looking after her during the day. all very fun (shes such a little character!) except she brought with her a cold which has pretty much nocked me out.

paid work has been non existant for me all week, the kids ive been looking after have moved to a town 20 mins away and i dont know if ill have them anymore. i had someone inroll a child for full time care.... and then after we'd organised all the details and i was excited and ready to have her start the next day her current childcare found someone that they already knew able to have her.
so im back at square 1. its not easy starting a buisiness. it doesnt help that i am a shy person. at least this time i know i can do it. ive done it before. i just need to be confident, meet people, believe in myself.

apple crumble

mums apple tree is full of apples so lately my thing has been to find the perfect apple crumble recipe. after a few attempts ive found it! yummy and so healthy you could almost get away with it for breakfast (believe me ill try it)

yep your lookin at it.
i put in it-
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup wholemeal flour
4 Tbs butter
3/4 oats

method-
* blend the begeebers out of it all in the mixer thing (the jug thing on a double mixer machine)

*peel and cut apples (i used about 8 i think) and put in pie dish

*sprinkle crumble mix on top

bake on about 150C until apples are soft and crumble is browned. enjoy.
its sooo good!

the chooks love when i make apple crumble too

we got these cane chairs the other day.they are just beyond cute (oh and the reading toddler. and her pinafore. when i have kids they will LIVE in overalls and pinafores, i just cant get enough of them:)

weekend cousinness

madi and lil came to visit saturday night and we watched lots and LOTS of gossip girl. (so trashy yet so fun:) and ate maltesers and pringles and all things yummy
saturday morning we had bacon and eggs. when it was time for them to go the next day we decided it was way too soon, we hadnt spent nearly enough quality cousin time together so they took me back to adelaide with them. unfortunately madi had to work
i took this piccie of her on the way to dropping her off for work at the library. how great are librarys? id love to work at one. especially hers, its a really cute old building and so friendly inside

me and lil went to check out opp shops. most were closed because it was sunday but we found a few that were open and i scored myself a $3 permaculture book, yippe!
we also went to ikea and had lots of fun wondering through all the little "homes" and decided that it would be lots of fun to bring food and books and hang out in one of the "loungerooms'' for a day

i love love love this lawn mower! i so wish i had a lawn mower just like it. oh yes and some grass to mow would be nice too (hint hint nudge nudge landlords!)

more cozyness

its been a nice week.

i spent some time at port Clinton beach and i went to visit mum. we had such a nice day together, doing nothing much, just enjoying each others company. oh and sorting out a massive amount of stuff that i hadn't yet shifted to the new place. the opp shop people must have thought it was Christmas when they saw us coming through the door loaded up with bags upon bags (most of which had probably come from there on various visits)

and walked out with a little something too, i love these cushions that mum got me. if you ask me there is no such thing as too many cushions. i have literally about 10 on my couch and use all of them i swear!

and i collected some winter stuff. coats, beanies, scarfs, im so excited to be using them all again. this is my second favourite beanie (after the awesome one that oma knitted me a few years back) i made it by felting an opp shopped granny cardigan (the bottom of which had the zig zag edge) and sewing it until it fitted right (which i assure you was many sewing lines and much unpicking!) it is so ridiculously warm and cozy, i most definitely recommend felted granny cardigans as hats!

and this little fellas been keeping cozy too. this is his all time favourite spot to sit and watch me when im on my bed journaling/reading/hand sewing. i don't know if its the softness of bennys boardies that does it for him or the coziness of his jeans up above but every time the cupboards shut i sit there and hear scratching and know what he wants. lucky benny isnt apposed to a little cat fur on his clothes

bohemian coziness

life just seems to be full of coziness and potential at the moment. our house has slowly over the past 3 months become a home. things have found their 'just right' places, the walls have been slowly speckeled with colour, photos, artwork, things that make us smile.
i can see that as the cool weather sets in the quilts and blankets will slowly make their way out of the wardrobe and soften each spot into further coziness. oh and dressing gowns, soft and warm. i miss my dressing gown over summer. i am a dressing gown person, around the house, out of the shower, out in the garden (even though it gets dirty and that means being without it until its washed and dry) when its cold enough i even wear it to bed. yes i get tangled but for that kind of coziness ansd warmth its worth it!

as we come into autum the world is full of promises that tomorrow will be even more wonderful than today. as the weather cools i know that i can start planting again! oh the excitement. the middle of a hot summer wasnt the best time to try to establish a veggie patch, their is still much room for improvment, and improve it wil-soon! i see with each new day more flowers opening and less closing and dying in order to help the plant survive heat. i can tell the plants are happy that its autum

we are cozy, benny and me. my days are full of comfort and bliss just to have him around (or know that hel be back soon) after being here with him just 3 months it feels like home just to be near him.
