I love this tiny tea pot

here it is next to a regular tea pot to show how tiny and adorable it is!

I found 5 balls of this 100% wool 12ply for just $1 per ball. Im knitting a hooded scarf out of it

How cool is this metal ice cube tray?! im looking forward to trying it out (the divider part comes out to remove ice)

The new babies now have names, the grey one is Winter and the brown one is Ella. They are so cute! I took them out for a run around the garden and they very soon heard my other chooks and went to say hi. They are very social and want to be part of the action, the other chooks arent too sure about them though

weekend pics

I finished knitting some fingerless gloves for my mum a week or two ago. They are being modeled by me, because i put them on as soon as i saw them on her coffee table!

I have wool to make some for me but seems ive been knitting the same cable pattern for my coat im not so enthusiastic to make them just yet. Hopefully the enthusiasm comes back soon because i really love these gloves, or maybe ill try a different pattern instead.

Speaking of my coat, im down tho the ribbing. Yay!

Just the sleeves and button band to go. Unless theres enough wool for a hood, i which case i think ill definately have to figure out how to knit one on. And then my coat will be ready to share with Anneke!

Speaking of Anneke, she gave me the cool slippers in this pic. You cant realy tell in the Photo but there covered in little peace signs, Awesome:)

Meet 'Sabine the second.' Levin asked me to get a frizzle chicken for her neighbour similar to the one i gave her. This one looks a lot like hers, so much so that my chickens didnt seem at all worried when i stuck a 'stranger' in with them. Im fairly convinced they just thought it was sabine back from her holiday

Of course i couldnt come away from mums neighbour (who sells chickens) with just a chook to give away could i? I intended to get one grey chook but came away with thes two. Im glad i did because there a little too small to go in with the other chooks for now, so they can keep eachother company. She thinks they will be verry small when their full grown, which is perfect as they wont make much mess free ranging my garden. always a plus

So i have finally finished painting the chickens cage (a week after i hoped too!)

Just waiting for the last bit to dry and then it will be a cozy new house for the little ladys

Since my cat mishka was a brand new tiny kitten hes been obsessed with mine and mums fluffy dressing gowns (made out of fabric thats kind of like polar flece but fluffy) so ive made him a big cussion case out of the same fabric for on my outdoor table where he likes to sleep in the sun

I think he likes it

Why my chooks are homeless bums (temporarily:) and coat update

so this is where my chooks are sleeping tonight

yep thats right, on top of the gate in which is supposed to keep them in their yard! (they are in desperate need of a much higher fence. ok make that i and my veggie seedlings are)

why are they roosting on their fence you ask?

because i decided to paint their coop on the weekend. I figured a coupla coats of paint, if i start in the morning should be ready for them by bed time right?

apparently not so much if your using oil based paints (my gosh i hate oil based paint clean up, but its just so shiny... and hard wearing...)

so ive been buisy the past few days, borrowing paints from my dad, getting all the way home and realising it needs primer under coat (still in mum and dads shed 45 mins away...) getting impatient and just painting a little without it...

Im painting it two shades of green with flowers on the light green sides. These were pics on the weekend, ive got more done since then, ill take pics 2mrw

yes i was, but then i realised that i realy couldnt figure out how to do the top and arms that way. so mum ripped it all out for me. it was a little painfull to watch! and from it came this massive ball to be re knit

Heres my veggie patch. Like always the weeds are growing as fast as the plants! All the plants are doing well too.

Ive planted cauili, spinich (baby and regular), egg plants, cellery, asian mixed greens, chinese cabbage, peas, beetroots, carrots, turnips, lettuce, broad beans, and perhaps a few ive forgotten about! a lot of them ive grown from seed which is extra exciting

The border is made of rocks i found in the the drain way next to our house (score!)

New recipe book

A little while ago my recipe book dissapeared of the face of the earth.

I have no idea how a book that never leaves my kitchen can manage to dissapear, but after much searching it sadly became apparent, that that must be precicely what happened

luckily levin had a great one to give me, much better than my original (except that sadly it doesnt contain our absolute favourite carrot cake recipe like my old one did)

Soon after i saw it, it seemed to be yelling to me, i need to be covered in mushrooms

So now it is.
Honestly, when im so hungry that i pull out my recipe book to cook i probably dont need to look at such a delicious strawberry anyway. Ya know, because that would only make me hungrier!!

Next i will re-do the little sections to give them categories to suit me better (and to put sweets first because thats what i realy want to see first when i open a recipe book:)

three chicks on a road trip

The three chicks mentioned in the title were me, Mum and a little hen. we were on a mission to take the Renners another girl for their new chicken mansion.

The way over was entertaining, i couldnt find a box so i had the chicken on a towel on my lap for over an hour. Im sure cars that stopped at traffic lights next to us would have thought it interesting seing a chook peeking out the window!

We had a great time talking craft with levin, showing each other our latest projects. weve all been doing knitting lately which is nice. Oma and Opa came over and had lunch with us (which included a realy yummy zuccini slice which i got the recipe for and plan to make tommorow)

After that we went to visit jo and had tea in spotty cups in her garden.

Tea taste extra good when your out side and its just a little chilly!

Jo was talking about the time she came to visit us and we made chocolate cake every day and ate it the whole time she was there. I cant remember, (us kids must have been young i presume) so we realy must do it again some time because it sounded realy fun!!
