This morning i had a rather wonderful time splashing in puddles and dancing in the rain

This afternoon I went wondering across the road to an empty block full of tall grass and yellow flowers to take a few photos.

 I got thoroughly wet and muddy, breathed in lots of rain scented fresh air, cleaned my feet in the overflowed water from our rainwater tank, and then headed inside to get warm and dry underneath cozy quilts. 

So i have finally finished painting the chickens cage (a week after i hoped too!)

Just waiting for the last bit to dry and then it will be a cozy new house for the little ladys

Since my cat mishka was a brand new tiny kitten hes been obsessed with mine and mums fluffy dressing gowns (made out of fabric thats kind of like polar flece but fluffy) so ive made him a big cussion case out of the same fabric for on my outdoor table where he likes to sleep in the sun

last weekend anneke came to visit. we had lots of fun hanging out, watching ''phych'' series dvds, sewing and cooking together

i helped anneke take up the shorts she is wearing in the photos because we opp shoped them last time she was over but they were originally longer than she wanted them. she sewed up some vw beetle cussions that had been sitting in my fabric stash pile for a long time doing nothing. the kids i look after absolutely love them, both for cuddling and ''broom broom brooming across the floor

we made apple crumble for desert

the next day we went to the beach to get bennys new budgies some cuddle fish to munch on (to sharpen their beaks i think?) benny stayed behind and we came home to a delicious lamb roast he cooked us for lunch

ive been getting back to knitting now that the weather is cooling down. this is a hurricane hat ive been workin on from my new favourite site to browse, ravelry.

just to remind myself so i can chuck out an old callendar, we got mishka 8th April 06. he was 6 weeks old

happiness out my back door

when we moved in, as much as i loved the place there were just a few things i realy realy missed from my old house. i looked out the back door the other day and realised my dreams are coming true

my new veggie patch is become my relaxation again (now that summer is over and the plants arent dying, because theirs nothing relaxing about dead plants) i have surrounded the beds with chunks of pea straw and its looking realy great.

some might look at this picture and see patchy grass. i see picnics, cozy blankets and cussions, a relaxing spot to lay and read books, greenery in an otherwise brown spot, and best of all a spot that will be full of happy memories. our new grass is looking fuller and fuller by the day.

i was given a 'coffe table' by bennys mum for next to my favourite chair, tomorrow it will be painted matching green. perfect!

a rainwater tank!! this is exactly what we planned on saving for as soon as we ran out of ''nececities'' (microwave, second portable cot, phone that you can hear people with because ours was ridiculously quiet) in the meantime we found out that bennys uncle had one he wasnt using and was happy to lend us for the moment. gotta love luck when its working in your favour!

when i sit outside i take a deep breath and smile. despite feeling a little impatient about getting pregnant i know it will happen and in the meantime life is pretty good.

more cozyness

its been a nice week.

i spent some time at port Clinton beach and i went to visit mum. we had such a nice day together, doing nothing much, just enjoying each others company. oh and sorting out a massive amount of stuff that i hadn't yet shifted to the new place. the opp shop people must have thought it was Christmas when they saw us coming through the door loaded up with bags upon bags (most of which had probably come from there on various visits)

and walked out with a little something too, i love these cushions that mum got me. if you ask me there is no such thing as too many cushions. i have literally about 10 on my couch and use all of them i swear!

and i collected some winter stuff. coats, beanies, scarfs, im so excited to be using them all again. this is my second favourite beanie (after the awesome one that oma knitted me a few years back) i made it by felting an opp shopped granny cardigan (the bottom of which had the zig zag edge) and sewing it until it fitted right (which i assure you was many sewing lines and much unpicking!) it is so ridiculously warm and cozy, i most definitely recommend felted granny cardigans as hats!

and this little fellas been keeping cozy too. this is his all time favourite spot to sit and watch me when im on my bed journaling/reading/hand sewing. i don't know if its the softness of bennys boardies that does it for him or the coziness of his jeans up above but every time the cupboards shut i sit there and hear scratching and know what he wants. lucky benny isnt apposed to a little cat fur on his clothes
