Yep, quite the exciting weekend:)
There's not exactly a typical romantic proposal story to share tho I'm afraid
Anyone who knows Benny and I well will probably know that were as bad as each other at keeping secrets. Seriously terrible! I don't think we've ever got to a birthday or Christmas without having exchanged gifts far too early because we just couldn't wait to see the other open it.
About two years ago, a few days after our (3rd I think) anniversary he informed me that he had thought about proposing to me but chickened out in case I didn't say yes. I of course replied 'Why did you tell me that?Of course id say yes, it's supposed to be a surprise and now it wont be!!!' so he waited.
And then one friend got engaged so he waited for a bit thinking it wouldn't be as special if we followed straight afterwards. And then another did so he waited a bit longer. And then another did....
Anyway, on Saturday he took me to choose a ring. I already knew he wanted to marry me and he already knew I wanted to marry him. Now its 'official' and we've shared it with everyone else. Oh and I got a pretty ring:)
It was probably quite funny for the jeweler to help me choose a ring. Benny told her we wanted to choose an engagement ring and she got quite excited. She started asking me all sorts of questions about styles and sorts. I'm not really a jewelry person so I looked at her quite blankly and informed her I had no idea what any of that was. My only request was that I didn't want anything too chunky or big.
She pulled out two small rings from the first section. I looked at them and tried them on. They were both around about what I had thought id wanted but as soon as I put them on I didn't feel very drawn to them. Benny mentioned a ring that he'd spotted and I tried it on. It fitted perfectly and I immediately knew that it was the one. We bought it then and there, ring number three.
The jeweler seemed shocked to have made such a quick sale, we didn't get to any of the other shops that Benny had intended to take me and quite frankly I'm still shocked at myself for making such a quick decision on most likely the most expensive piece of jewelry I will ever own.
Did I mention that compared to the ones she had shown me its rather big and somewhat chunky?! See what I mean, the Jeweler lady relay did have quite a bit to giggle about on her tea break with the other Jeweler ladies.
After that we went and shared the news with both our parents and being that we had already planned to have tea with my parents they took us out to have tea at the beach and celebrate.
Benny casually updated his face book with his phone to say that he was engaged. And then he wanted to update mine too. You know, in case anyone thought we'd broken up and he'd got engaged to someone else as a re-bounder because my face book profile (which has little on it because I never use it!) didn't say we were engaged (yes he was joking. I think:) Neither of us really use face book so we presumed it would just add it to his profile page but it actually comes up on every ones wall page. So there you go family, that's why face book knew before any of you. Did I mention I hate face book?!
Oh and in other exciting news, my lace scarf is finished and blocking (is that what I would say when its pinned and still drying?) Although compared to the getting engaged news, the finished scarf news probably isn't quite as exciting is it. It sure is pretty tho!

sleeping next to you

I love the nights that we lay in bed talking until we say- realy, we are realy going to stop talking now, we need to go to sleep! (followed by, oh hold on ill just say this, and half an hour more conversation) I dont mind being tired the next day because its most deffinately worth it to spend time with you. Your worth it.
Some nights when i cant sleep the rhythum of your breath soothes me to sleep.
When were in bed we are almost always touching, even if its just out toes touching or we are facing opposite directions and our backs press together.
I love to kiss you between your shoulder blades, or lean over the back of the couch and snuggle into your neck
I love You

happy monday
Today we went driving. We took these photos, they make my heart sing
I always love holding his warm rough skinned hands. The hands of an electrician, there's always a new bump or scratch from his business at work. They're his and i love them these birds are flying because Benny through a rock at them. 'for photographic purposes' (and perhaps because the little boy in him likes seeing birds scatter into the sky:)

Saturday Night

weve been meaning to borrow a trailor and take a heap of junk to the dump for probably 6 months or so. Yesterday benny decided that it would be fun to have a fire and burn it instead so within an hour we'd borrowed a fire bucket from his dad (nothing like free entertainment to motivate!)

benny had a great time breaking stuff to put in the fire and i had a great time being warm and making bake potatoes and carrots
we listened to a realy funny comedy radio station and it was nice hanging out together outside

bohemian coziness
life just seems to be full of coziness and potential at the moment. our house has slowly over the past 3 months become a home. things have found their 'just right' places, the walls have been slowly speckeled with colour, photos, artwork, things that make us smile.
i can see that as the cool weather sets in the quilts and blankets will slowly make their way out of the wardrobe and soften each spot into further coziness. oh and dressing gowns, soft and warm. i miss my dressing gown over summer. i am a dressing gown person, around the house, out of the shower, out in the garden (even though it gets dirty and that means being without it until its washed and dry) when its cold enough i even wear it to bed. yes i get tangled but for that kind of coziness ansd warmth its worth it!
as we come into autum the world is full of promises that tomorrow will be even more wonderful than today. as the weather cools i know that i can start planting again! oh the excitement. the middle of a hot summer wasnt the best time to try to establish a veggie patch, their is still much room for improvment, and improve it wil-soon! i see with each new day more flowers opening and less closing and dying in order to help the plant survive heat. i can tell the plants are happy that its autum

we are cozy, benny and me. my days are full of comfort and bliss just to have him around (or know that hel be back soon) after being here with him just 3 months it feels like home just to be near him.

happy australia day

I've had such a fantastic long weekend! we've been swimming and fishing and Sunday-feasting (a 'Sunday feast' is a tradition me and aj started when we both still lived at home. we used to go to the supermarket every Sunday and choose lots of yummy foods for a picnic somewhere. it usually doesn't happen on Sundays now, just whenever we get together. so much fun)
Saturday night we had tea with my Kylie and her family in memory of her wonderful dad who sadly passed away 2 years ago. we had two of his favourite things, kfc chicken and black douglas, and then played sing star (lots of fun!) and guitar hero
sunday i went swimming at north beach (my old beach) and that night me and benny did some practice fishing ready to go out in the boat this morning (6am in the morning to be precise!)

here we are looking sleepy and rugged up early

as you can see my practice paid off, caught this flounder (my first 'keepable size' fish ever!) it was enough to feed the two of us for tea tonight and was very nice

benny and his dad dad caught heaps of crabs but i didn't catch any. this is just a small one that got chucked back, i didn't get around to photographing any of the big ones, just this little cutie

finaly gettin in the making spirit
its about time (because it sure didnt happen before christmas)
Hope you all had a very merry christmas!
with all the packing, shifting, unpacking i was sooo not into christmas prererations, it sadly just didnt happen. next year. but we did have a fantastic christmas, getting together with my family christmas eve and bennys family for christmas day.

this is my new favourite photo, ben, me, dad, mum, aj &kane
anyway,
ive been obsesed with mosaic for years thanks to my aunty helenas many beautiful mosaic pots that she's made over the years and various mosaic murals ive seen. every time i see something mosaiced i think to myself 'wow, im deffinately going to do that soon. well i saw a particularly cool mural here while i happened to be writing a christmas wish list. i got given mosaic glue and gem stones (those around me has DEFINATELY heard all about them and every mosaicing idea ive had) so today i set off opp shoping to find some cool coloured plates etc to smash (well for benny to smash, this was the part he excitedly volunteered to do)
im planing to make mosaic stepping stones for my veggie patch (which is starting to look like a veggie patch!)
well i did good. there were some great plates and bowls in wonderful colours. that im realy not sure i can bring myself to give up...

these are my favourite pieces, not that the pic does them justice. a happy yellow bowl, and a set of four glasses with little trees, houses, rainbows and birds.
i deffinately couldnt part with them!

look how big the chickas are, and more to the point, check out the mohawk! two of them have a natural mohawk and i only hope it stays (because who doesnt love a chicken with attitude:)

happy new year and happy 1 year to us!!:)
i had such a great new years eve!!
it started off waking up next to my favourite boy in the world, then we went to see his sisters beautiful, brand spanking new, tiny tiny TINY little baby girl (darn i love newborns:) she is so gorgeous, and so small that she is still swimming in 00000 clothes!
as though i hadnt smiled enough for one day, when we got back bennys parents took us out snorkeling on their boat. i saw lots of little fishies and crabs and had an absolute ball. the world turned orange and pink as we headed back.we had a swim in the almost bath temperture water at the boat ramp in the dark. one of my favourite parts of going out in the boat is sitting in it on the way to the boat ramp(because they take their ute) it reminds me of being little and getting SO excited to sit in the trailor or go on horse and cart rides, oh sweet memories.
this is us on the boat. i took an AWESOME photo of ben (from behind) sitting on the front of the boat with sunset infront of him which my camera tells me is unrecognised format:( i am so dissapointed, id already decided this was my absolute favourite photo in the world:(
anyway, we got back, had a barbie for tea, prepared for a booring but nice newyear/1 year of us (firework literally went of when we had our first kiss, because it was newyear on the dot! we started officialy "going out" about a week or 2 later, but we decided to make newyear our marker otherwise we'd both forget it!)
wed both been to slack to organise catching up with friends and everyone we knew of was going away so we headed down the pt wakefield pub for a look. I expected benny to see a few friends but got an awesome suprise to see my friend BEC!!! yay!!! (who used to live in pt wakefield but now lives in kadina) we had an awesome night!! i love bec, shes so much fun!
