is what we will hopefully be hearing in a few weeks, boots (on the right) has started sitting on the eggs so our neighbour gave us 8 fertile eggs for the kids to see hatch into chicks.and im just as excited as the kids, if not more. its going to be like a lucky dip, were not sure what the chicks will be as the eggs are from a yard with different verieties of chickens. ill be happy with them because its not like they could be any less cute than penny (poor penny is always the butt of our ugly jokes but i promise she is very loved)

here are the eggs which i have marked so that we can tell the difference between them and the new eggs (which arent fertile so will be collected like usual.)
ooooh how cute. i would be more excited than the kids - i love baby chicks.

Baby chickens!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember when i had to look after a lil baby chick at school. I think i called it Ray, do you remember?
It was very cute :)
where will you keep them all?? it's only a tiny hutch, isn't it?
ReplyDeletethe kid's will be besides themselves - i bet they already get excited just seeing if there are eggs :)
yes were all verry excited (mostly me)the kids spent the first two days asking if the chicks were going to hatch yet and 'checking on the chickies' and then lost interest. im pretty sure interest will return when the chicks hatch tho! the neighbours daughter lives on a farm so she is happy to take any chickens i dont want so i will choose one to keep and the others will go once their old enough (or possibly when the cage gets too crowded, whichever happens first)
ReplyDeleteohhhh how exciting!!! This is the most amazing process isn't it!
