and then all of a sudden i realise that in being so focused on tomorrow i am wishing away today, my mind is so buisy that i havent noticed new flowers blooming in my garden, the beautiful sunset. some days i forget to take the time to truly feel (love, appreciation for all the things that sing to my heart, joy, happiness)
so a few days ago i made a decission. to live in the now and celebrate being 20.

to notice and smile at all the little moments of my days, my routines, my happy places.
i decided to wake up each day, eat a healthy breakfast because it makes me feel good and i deffinately deserve to feel fantastic every day. i think about how i feel and what i realy want to get out of that day
here are some photos i took to forever remind me who i am now. i am carefree ,bohemian, 20. i am exploration, a teacher, a learner. i am freedom, i am art. i am growth, i am ocean.
most importantly, i am ME

last night me and benny danced and giggled in our kitchen while making tea and then went walking in search of a good fishing spot for another night. we walked over flowing water on rickety rocks that threatend to shift in the mud and send us falling into the murky water. we talked and held hands and i felt like the luckiest girl alive. to be on this adventure (life) with benny. to be living somewhere brand new that is an experience of my choosing. to know that wherever i go, whatever i do, its my choice and i can make what i want of it. i choose to appreciate it all, to feel, to love. i choose to live spontaniously and take each day as it comes. as a gift.

i love life
Perfect philosophy!

ReplyDeletebeautiful... I amde the same resolution to myself in the early hours of this morning while feeding my babe.... smile more, laugh often and find the beauty in the ordinary.
ReplyDeleteIt is your life, and it is a pleasure to be a part of it. You are lucky enough to be at a beautiful time in your life where you have just passed the milestone of adolescence, but still on the cusp of adulthood. 'Stepping through the door', so to speak. Make the most of it Karen, because life really is made up of the moments. Enjoy them as they come!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is beautiful and really shows what "bare feet and free spirits" are all about.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and I'll be checking in with yours as well. :)

You are the cutest! I am so glad you feel this way at 20. Keep this philosophy with you at every age...and you reminded me to enjoy 38! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou go girlfriend - that's the spirit!
ReplyDeleteI was walking home from work with a friend the other day and we were talking about exactly the same thing... about how it's so important to live in the moment... but it's just so easy to get caught up worry about the future, trying not to make the same mistakes of the past etc. It's hard but i think it's possible... I have a mantra for the week. I woke up feeling a bit funny this morning (I think it's because of the full moon... Im cancerian and really feel it.) but I decided my mantra for the week will be "Just go with the flow" even saying it sort of chills me out... What you think??
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for commenting on my posts last week, it was funny that you did comment though because it was from your pages that I was sensing that whole confidence in yourself, so it was awesome to get your messages.
Anyway, something else funny... we have two favorite books. Guitar Highway Rose and Girlosophy...
I read Guitar Highway Rose when I was 16 and LOVED it. My brother had it as a school book and i borrowed it and read it over and over again. And girlosophy, it's totally my answer book sometimes, or just a pick me up. Im not sure what version you have but mines the soul survival one, and right at the back is a page with a girl sitting on the ground, the page has stuff about lonliness being a state of mind written on it, anyway when I was going through a crap stage of life I found it super inspirational and now I have the same hibiscus tattoo on my right foot (Right foot forward in life... symbolise moving forward)... Anyway, just wanted to share with you.
Hope the heat isn't too bad where you are, and you had a lovely weekend!
right on! keepin' it positive :) very nice blog
